What is Functional Movement?
The purpose of functional movement is to first assess how well your muscles and joints are moving within a proper range of motion. Once any areas are uncovered that are dysfunctional or painful, a rehab program is established to help improve mobility and stability allowing for more range of motion, improved strength, and less painful movements.
We partnered with Movenow University to train and adapt
proper functional movement exercises.
How can it help me?
For a joint to function properly, the muscles around it need to be strong enough to maintain a slow, fluid range of motion. If the body feels unstable, it will alter that range of motion to maintain stability. this can be observed during an assessment, and it will further indicate where subsequent care is necessary, or what kind of therapeutic exercises may be required.
When poor movement is corrected, the body can heal in a much more advantageous way, pain can be reduced and help prevent future injuries from recurring.
Functional movement is an excellent pair with your chiropractic adjustments because it will help the adjustments to increase in effectiveness, allow for faster recovery and help provide a reduction in injury occurrences.
We include manual muscle treatment in our protocols to help facilitate targeted muscle relaxation and reduction in tension. This allows for a specific approach to muscles that are bound up and not functioning properly.
