Shoulder pain treatment in Sartell, MN
Shoulder Pain and Restricted Movement
Reaching into a cabinet, putting on a jacket, or finding a comfortable sleeping position can become frustrating when your shoulder hurts. At Good Life Chiropractic, we assess your shoulder and the movements around it to understand your concerns and recommend a practical next step.

Understanding What Your Shoulder Is Telling You
Shoulder discomfort can appear at the front or side of the joint, near the shoulder blade, or farther down the upper arm. You may notice pain with overhead work, lifting, exercise, or lying on that side. Stiffness or weakness may make familiar tasks feel harder.
Possible causes include muscle or tendon irritation, joint problems, and injuries. Sometimes discomfort is referred from the neck. The location of pain alone does not identify the cause.
Your history matters. A gradual ache after repeated activity needs a different assessment from sudden pain after a fall or a shoulder that has lost strength. We want to understand how your symptoms began and how they behave now.
A Closer Look at Shoulder Function
Dr. Eli begins by discussing your symptoms, prior injuries, work, exercise, and goals. Your examination may include shoulder movement, strength, joint and muscle assessment, and orthopedic testing. We may also assess your neck, upper back, and shoulder-blade movement when relevant.
If conservative care is appropriate, your plan may include:
- Functional movement and rehab with exercises selected for your current ability
- Mobility work and gradual strengthening to support everyday movement
- Soft tissue work for associated muscle tension
- Chiropractic care for relevant joint restrictions when indicated
- Low-level laser therapy as a supportive option when it fits your findings
We explain what each part of the plan is intended to address. A suspected significant injury or a condition outside our scope may need medical or orthopedic evaluation before treatment begins.
Building Back Toward Everyday Activity
Your goals might be reaching a shelf, carrying groceries, working overhead, or returning to the gym. We use those activities to make your plan practical and track progress.
Home recommendations may include temporary changes to aggravating activities, comfortable movement, and a small number of targeted exercises. We review your response and adjust the difficulty as appropriate. Pushing through sharp pain or forcing a restricted shoulder is not the goal.
If symptoms are worsening or you are not making meaningful progress, we reassess and discuss whether another provider or additional testing would be helpful.
Schedule a consultation at our Sartell office to talk about your shoulder and what you want to get back to doing.

FAQs
Can shoulder pain come from the neck?
Sometimes. Neck-related nerve irritation can cause symptoms around the shoulder or down the arm. Shoulder tissues can also cause pain on their own. We assess the pattern and relevant movements to help determine what needs further attention.
Can you tell whether I have a rotator cuff tear?
Your history and examination can help identify signs of a possible rotator cuff injury. Pain alone cannot confirm a tear, and ultrasound or MRI may be needed in some cases. We recommend medical evaluation when the findings call for it.
Should I stop using my shoulder while it hurts?
That depends on the cause and severity. Many shoulder problems benefit from appropriate gentle movement, with changes to activities that aggravate symptoms. After a significant injury, or if you cannot move the arm, seek urgent medical assessment before starting exercises.
Can you help with a stiff or frozen shoulder?
We can assess shoulder stiffness and discuss whether conservative movement-based care is suitable. Frozen shoulder needs an appropriate diagnosis and an individualized plan. Medical or physical therapy care may also be appropriate.
Will chiropractic care repair a torn tendon?
Chiropractic adjustments do not repair a torn tendon. Some tendon problems can be managed with rehabilitation and activity changes; others need specialist care. Recommendations should follow an assessment of the injury and your needs.
When does shoulder pain need urgent attention?
Call 911 for shoulder pain with chest pressure, shortness of breath, or sudden sweating. Seek urgent medical care for severe pain after an injury, an obvious change in shoulder shape, inability to move the arm, or a hot, swollen shoulder with fever.
